If you noticed the silence, I appreciate your patience. If you did not notice, please pretend you were waiting on the edge of your seat for my sake. The “short break” Bhav and I planned for the podcast ended up being significantly longer than intended, but the microphones are officially being dusted off.

It remains exactly what it says on the tin - a brand new, slightly chaotic, and entirely unscripted look at the people in the world of data. The premise has not changed - we are sitting down with the smartest people we know in the analytics space to have the kind of honest conversations that usually only happen behind closed doors, or at the pub.

We figured the least we could do is provide a bit of human connection and a few laughs while you fight the good fight in whatever data-based job you do.

As of the time of writing, we have recorded our first episode, and scheduling our next. We’ll share postes on here and LinkedIn before each recording to gether your questions for our lovely guests too.

As a reminder, we are still looking for your input! Confessions, rants, questions, ideas (popular and even better, unpopular ones) - we’ll take them all. Whether it is a dashboard that was held together by nothing but luck and one very fragile Excel macro, or a data “f-up” that still makes you wake up in a cold sweat, we want to hear it.

Now for the why. I’ll keep it short - it’s my fault. Not in a “boo hoo me” kind of way, more that it really is on me to produce the show, book guests, edit, release, and so on.

And the reason I didn’t do it is simple - I couldn’t. I was in a slump. It could have been burn out. Or even good old fashioned depression. Either way, I didn’t have the brain-space for it, so it didn’t happen.

This post is not about garnering any sympathy, or some weird distasteful marketing ploy. It’s simply a way to say that sometimes life happens, and those times are a stark reminder of what is important in life. And that is not to say that I don’t enjoy way I do for a living, or making podcasts. It’s purely meant as a way to say that I had to focus on my personal life, my relationships, my health.

So I was okay, then I wasn’t, and now I’m okay again. I’m not sure what changed, maybe nothing. Maybe time worked it’s magic. Either way, me and Bhav are back talking about the podcast again, and we’re both very excited to jump back in!

Doing this podcast (like the podcast we did before) was a net-positive for my mental health. It’s fun, and get’s us talking to some wonderfully fascinating people. And this brings me joy and invigorates me.

I’m not going to proof read this, or re-read at all, I’m just going to post and move on with getting to the good stuff - podcasting. If you read this far, thank you. I don’t need anything, and promise that I’m feeling better now. Thanks again for all of you that know me personally and spoke to me throughout this blip. And of course a special thank you to Bhav - love you brother.

Analytics Unscripted is a brand new, slightly chaotic, always informal, and definitely unscripted podcast hosted by Daniel Perry-Reed (yours truly) and my partner in data-chat crime, Bhav Patel.

There are no episodes live yet (we like to build suspense), but we’re getting ready to hit record very soon. The idea is simple - we sit down with brilliant people from across the analytics world and just… chat. No scripts, no rigid formats, no endless buzzword bingo. Just honest conversations, a few laughs, and some surprising insights about the industry we find ourselves working in.

We’re keeping things light, curious, and human. Think of it as the podcast version of that chat you have after a conference talk, pint in hand, just talking shop with good people.

If you’re into data, analytics, marketing, product, CRO, etc. and fancy something a bit more off-the-cuff, Analytics Unscripted might be your new favourite background listen. Or we hope so at least - that’s the plan!

We are going to try something a little different in this podcast by having an ‘analytics confessions’ segment. That’s right - you share your analysis confessions, data secrets, analytics f-ups, or anything else you just need to get off your chest (or grass up someone else of course) and we'll read the best ones out on the podcast!
